Artist's Description

Embedded deeply in Lake Michigan two miles off Chicago’s coast are its water intake cribs, responsible for pumping 700 million gallons of water a day via a subterranean pipeline to more than 6.5 million Illinoisans. A steel footbridge links the late-1800s 68th Street Crib (L) to the Edward F. Dunne crib (R), still active after 113 years.
